Pondera County Jail was established in 1915 in Conrad, Montana, as the county's primary detention facility. The original jail building was a small, two-story structure located at the corner of Main Street and Front Avenue. It housed both male and female inmates and was operated by a single jailer.

Expansion and Renovations

In 1938, the jail was expanded to three stories to accommodate the growing inmate population. Additional cells and other facilities were added to meet the county's increasing needs.
